The first one I have been experimenting with myself and I have to say I love Citrasolv which is a citrus based general cleaner you can buy at Whole Foods.  It comes in a concentrate and the smell is refreshing!

She also advocates going meatless one day a week and shopping for sustainably raised meat when you do plan a meat meal.  Whole Foods has a great ranking system in place to lets you make informed decisions about what meat you should buy based on sustainable and humane practices.

Upgrading your insulation might be the biggest item on the list and it is relatively inexpensive to do and reaps great rewards in energy savings.  She finishes the list by advocating glass and not plastic in the microwave, be careful and choose safe pots and pans.  It is hard to beat an iron skillet.  My grandmother’s is still my favorite tool in the kitchen.

Other top tips would be “don’t dump, donate”.  Reusing is even better than recycling.  There is no shortage of people in need in the Atlanta area that could use many of the items you couldn’t image a use for and lots of organizations that will pick up or provide easy drop off locations.
